How to Download Torrents - Quick Checklist
If you've read through the previous sections on this site, you should be pretty familiar with how torrents work, and how to use them. Here is a follow up checklist with quick steps to get you on your way to downloading in seconds.
Quick Checklist:
1.Find and download a torrent client. There are many to choose from, utorrent, BitTorrent, and Azureus are just a few. Simple Google any of these and you'll find a download link right away. The client is what the torrent is downloaded inside of, sort of like a download manager if you've ever used one of those.
2.Follow the simple instructions to install said client onto your PC.
3.Once its installed, simply go to any of the hundreds of torrent sites (many of which listed in the “Popular Torrent Trackers” section of this site. At these sites, simply search for the file you are looking for and download the torrent file to your PC. This file is very small and will only take about 2-3 seconds . Most of the time you will get many results after searching for a torrent and wonder which one to take. The best option is to check the number of seeders a file has, and usually the ones with more seeders are the more “popular” files among users so they turn out to be the best match.
4.Open the small torrent file inside of the torrent client you downloaded in step 1 and your set to go! The download will start immediately and soon you'll have your desired file. Its that easy!
Extra Tips:
1.Some torrent downloads are quick large, esp for applications and movies etc, so you might not have time to download them all in one go. Is that a problem? No, not at all! You can pause your download at ANY time during the process and restart it when you please. This will not alter or affect the file in any way. Simply right click on the torrents thats downloading inside the client (read above) and select pause. To restart, do the same but choose resume.
2.Personally, I use utorrent and would recommend that as one of the best clients.
3.When looking for torrent files, always choose ones with high seeders. This will give you better seeds and most than often has the best chance of being a legitimate file.
Warnings:
1 Anything you download is at your own risk, so be careful.
2.Downloading copyrighted material and pirated media is ILLEGAL and should NEVER be done. Do it at your own risk!
3.Yes, torrents can contain viruses and cause problems on your PC. Try and read user comments
